World Champion Black Belt Lana Stefanac Needs Your Help

Lana Stefanac is perhaps one of the most formidable women I have ever met. A heavyweight MMA fighter and black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Lana became the first American to win the Mundials Brown/Blackbelt Heavyweight and Absolute Championships in 2009. I met Lana in 2007 when she introduced me to the gi and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. She has been my teacher and friend since then. Throughout the years I have watched her selflessly dedicate herself to BJJ become a teacher and mentor to many. She has given countless amounts of her time and resources to aspiring fighters around her, often times with little compensation or acknowledgement. Her incredible strength is only mirrored by her generosity. About a year ago Lana’s mother become very ill. Lana eventually had to close her academy due to the strain of this and decided to focus on taking care of her family. Over the last year her mother’s health has rapidly declined and in the last few weeks the doctors found a large tumor on her mother’s brain. With very little time let, Lana has decided to head back to Ohio to take care of her family once again. Unfortunately being a world champion female black belt and undefeated female MMA fighter don’t provide much financial stability. Lana has always had at least one job and despite this she has given infinitely to the BJJ community. Now it’s time for us to give back. She will be the primary supporter of her family when she returns home and needs our help. Please take a moment if you can to donate a little to help her get back home and take care of her mother. No amount is too small and will be absolutely appreciated.

If you are free on Sunday, December 18th, 12p-3p, Lana will be holding a fundraising seminar at CSA. The first hour will be gi, second is no-gi and the third is MMA. She is accepting donations to attend.

Paypal donations can be made to Mercy7526 [at] aol [dot] com
